Lucinde Rhoodie
Lucinde Rhoodie is a Director in our Dispute Resolution practice and in the Corporate Debt, Turnaround & Restructuring sector. She has vast experience in complex commercial litigation matters, corporate debt, turnaround & restructuring, Companies Act litigation matters and disputes, financial markets and market abuse litigation and corporate investigations. Lucinde is involved in major High Court litigation matters, as well as complex domestic and international commercial arbitrations.

Lucinde has been a Director since 2005. She holds the following internationally recognised rankings: Chambers Global: Dispute Resolution: 2023, 2024; Legal EMA 500 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024: Dispute Resolution; Legal 500 Private Practice Arbitration Powerlist for Africa during February 2023 and Best Lawyers 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024: Insolvency and Reorganization Law, as well as Arbitration and Mediation.

Experience
A wide range of Business Rescue, Restructuring and Insolvency matters such as liquidation and sequestration applications, the running of insolvency enquiries and other insolvency related litigation including prosecuting claims on behalf of liquidators, setting aside dispositions and assisting creditors with submitting claims in insolvent estates, perfecting securities on behalf of creditors (cessions/general notarial bonds). She acts for both liquidators, creditors and commercial banks, both in regard to South African and cross border insolvency matters.
Forensic investigations in liquidation and commercial dispute scenarios.
Including but not limited to litigating on securitised debt for major commercial banks.
Complex commercial contractual disputes.
Company law disputes and litigation including shareholder disputes, director delinquency applications and shareholders' minority protection, acting for inter alia several listed companies in litigation and regulatory matters.
Commercial property disputes, acting for REIT's.
NCA disputes and related litigation and disputes on sale and lease buy backs and reckless lending on behalf of consumers and commercial banks; and
Consumer law including franchise disputes (acting for both franchisors and franchisees) and Consumer Protection Act disputes.
