Vincent joined Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr as a Candidate Attorney in January 2013 and has gained experience in the Dispute Resolution, Finance & Banking and Pro Bono & Human Rights practices. He was appointed as an Associate in January 2015 and promoted to Senior Associate in 2018.

  • Advising and acting for a specialist private hospital group in arbitration proceedings involving the enforceability and performance of a consultant under a consultancy service agreement.
  • Advising and acting for a water service board and a major public entity in arbitrations proceedings against a water services authority for a claim in excess of R100 million.
  • Part of a team involved in successfully perfecting a wide range of securities for a major public entity, which include notarial general covering bonds, mortgage bonds and special notarial bonds.
  • Advising and acting for a global market research and a consulting firm in defamation proceedings with a claim of R50 million.
  • Part of a team that successfully advised and acted for a public entity in the business rescue proceedings of a major mining company from various applications brought by multiple creditors and other parties.

  • Part of a team advising a major public entity in various disputes with suppliers for the removal of sludge at its disposal site and the auxiliary litigation and arbitration proceedings thereon.
  • Advising and acting for a specialist private hospital group in the eviction of a radiology practice from a private hospital up to the Supreme Court of Appeal.
  • Advising and acting for a private bank in the perfection of its securities in respect of the facilities in the sum of approximately R72 million and advising on the resultant business rescue.
  • Part of a team acting for a non-governmental organisation that successfully interdicted, reviewed and set aside the decision not to prosecute Lieutenant General in the South African Police Service up to the Supreme Court of Appeal.
  • Part of a team assisting various non-governmental organisations with various access to information (PAIA) applications, internal reviews and High Court reviews.
  • Part of a team that assisted an international NGO and various local NGOs with amicus curiae applications in the High Court and the Supreme Court of Appeal.
  • Drafting of pleadings, affidavits, notices, opinions and correspondences.
  • Drafting of resolutions, funding and security documents, including cessions, pledges, suretyships and guarantees.
  • Researching and assisting in preparing legal opinions on issues pertaining to inter alia corporate and commercial disputes, commercial arbitations, administrative law, public procurement and finance law, insolvency law and business rescue.
  • Familiarity with arbitration processes in particular, the Arbitration Foundation of Southern Africa.
  • Familiarity with litigation processes including trials and motions (urgent applications, opposed and unopposed motions).

  • Appearing before the Refugee Appeal Board and the Standing Committee for Refugee Affairs on various matters.
