Izabella Gutlar-Balkovic

Izabella completed her articles at a small firm in Pretoria which dealt with matters from various sectors such as commercial, litigation and labour. Izabella joined our Technology & Communications sector in July 2024. 

• Assisting in due diligence investigations for multinational companies, includes the review of high-value IT contracts, IT policies, data protection policies and procedures.
• She has provided advice to clients on the different classes of licences which may be issues by ICASA.
• Assisting in drafting single service aggregator agreements, software-as-a-service agreements, statements of work, memorandums of understanding, data sharing agreement, service level agreements and several other complex IT agreements.
• Negotiating of IT contracts and drafting of disaster recovery plans and business continuity plans.
• Advising on POPIA, and various privacy-related agreements, policies and notices.
• Registration of Information Officers and Deputy Information Officers with the Information Regulator.
• Advising on signal distribution for a large telecommunications-related client.
• Drafting of various legal opinions and memoranda.
• Advising on a crypto-currency related acquisition, including advising on the requirements for obtaining a CASP licence.
• Advising on issues related to AI and guidance on AI training.
• Advised on the Joint Standard 1 of 2024 – Outsourcing by Insurers.
• Advising on environmental claims in light of the Consumer Protection Act.
• Advised on whether a large international organisation would able to advance funds to their independent contractors under the Consumer Protection Act.
