  • Each promoted individual brings unique strengths and achievements to their respective areas of practice, reflecting CDH's commitment to supporting career progress and delivering excellent client service.

CDH CEO Brent Williams says;

“We are always excited to witness the growth of our people within the firm. As a people-centric firm, which is committed to learning and development, we are pleased to have been on this journey with Anli and Ryan since they joined us as Candidate Attorneys. Together with Margo-Ann, I have full confidence that their significant expertise as trusted business advisors will continue to be invaluable to our clients.”

Although Anli’s, Margo-Ann’s, and Ryan’s career trajectories at CDH have followed different paths, Williams believes they each share a lot in common. An unbending focus on clients’ needs, sharp legal minds, a strong sense of integrity, solid communication skills, sound judgment, an enduring team spirit and importantly, determination to continually sharpen their craft. He says these promotions reflect the flexibility on offer that enables CDH’s employees to play to their strengths on the challenging path to career progress and success and in doing so, better service their clients.

Anli is a home-grown success, having started her articles at CDH in January 2012. Her collegiality and her ability to strongly connect with clients has extended beyond the four walls of the firm and resulted in several successful secondments to leading South African companies. On top of these achievements, Anli has also represented CDH extensively in the media, writing numerous in-depth thought leadership pieces and participating in numerous broadcast interviews.

COVID-19 has rendered profound changes to our lives and to the economy that will have both immediate and long-term impacts on environmental law. Margo-Ann, who joined CDH in March 2020, has demonstrated both a passion for environmental law and the agility to match its ever-changing nature. She was CDH’s environmental lead in three separate projects bidding in the Risk Mitigation Independent Power Producer Programme. Since joining, Margo-Ann has galvanised CDH’s dedicated environmental law associate team.

Ryan is another home-grown success, having joined the firm in January 2013. Since then, he has focused primarily on mergers and acquisitions and general commercial work, as well as private equity work. Through several large commercial transactions, he has gained invaluable experience in the energy, and oil and gas sectors with a focus on the renewable energy sector, as well as the education and training sector.

Williams concludes;

“On behalf of the firm, we wish Anli, Margo-Ann, and Ryan well in this next, important step in their careers. We look forward to watching them lift their game as CDH Directors and to continue to grow as invaluable business advisors to their clients.”
