CDH represented Vodacom Proprietary Limited in a merger in which it prevailed in an appeal to the Competition Appeal Court, gaining approval for its ZAR 14 billion acquisition of a 30% stake in Maziv.

The CDH Competition Law team, represented Vodacom Proprietary Limited in a merger in which it prevailed in an appeal to the Competition Appeal Court, gaining approval for its ZAR 14 billion acquisition of a 30% stake in Maziv.  The transaction is subject to a range of conditions including commitments for the accelerated deployment of fibre to low-income communities. The team was involved in the merger filing commencing during 2021, the subsequent investigation by the Competition Commission, the hearing of the matter before the Competition Tribunal during 2024, and the successful appeal to the Competition Appeal Court of South Africa.
