Burton Meyer is a Director in our Dispute Resolution practice. He specialises in commercial litigation, with a specific focus on property law, mining law, and corporate recoveries. Burton is experienced in Superior Court litigation, arbitrations and mediation, and has assisted large multinational corporations in corporate litigation and corporate recoveries.

  • Advised a leading national financial institution in the winding up of Roadcorp and the recovery of monies from Roadcorp and its subsidiaries.

  • Advised a large national logistics company in the cancellation of its lease agreements and the restructuring of its divisions.

  • Advised an SOE on the enforcement of their loan facilities and the protection of monies invested interms of its PII Scheme and attended to arbitrations on its behalf.

  • Attorney for the Loureiro family in the action against Imvula Quality Protection (Pty)Ltd, a security provider, for breach of contract, which matter was ultimately decided in favor of the Loureiro family in the Constitutional Court.

  • Attorney for a national property finance company, advising them in regard to corporate recoveries, bond foreclosures, and enforcement of security.

  • Attorney for an international finance and insurance group in advising its various investment divisions in regard to corporate recoveries, shareholder disputes and lease disputes in its property portfolio.

  • Attorney for the major national mining companies in regard to High Court litigation and arbitrations on a wide range of issues from corporate recoveries and insolvency matters to contractual disputes and regulatory matters.

  • Attorney for one of the largest poultry producers in South Africa advising them in regard to regulatory issues, property disputes and general commercial litigation across a broad spectrum of disciplines.

  • Attorney for a national property fund in regard to their property portfolio and advising them in regard to various contractual disputes.
