The experts highlighted that Namibia is positioning its oil, gas and mining sectors as key drivers of industrialisation, beneficiation and infrastructure development under its National Development Plan Six (NDP6). At the same time, the government is implementing policy and regulatory reforms to attract increased foreign direct investment (FDI).

They noted that Namibia's FDI inflows grew significantly from N$50 billion between 2009 and 2020 to N$151 billion between 2021 and 2024, largely driven by exploration activity in the oil and gas sector. However, they emphasised that the country's next challenge is converting exploration-led investment into broader economic benefits, including job creation, industrial development and sustainable economic growth.

The experts concluded that Namibia's long-term success will depend on maintaining a balance between investment promotion and a predictable, transparent regulatory environment, while ensuring that resource development delivers lasting industrial and economic benefits.
