Tendai says corporate investigations focus on crime in the white-collar context, specifically in the private and public sectors. Over the last 10 to 15 years, we have seen a rise in interest in corporate forensics, mostly in the accounting field where we concentrate on finance and the legal field. Corporate forensics has emerged as something vital in South Africa because of the various forms of corruption.

Tendai adds that corporate crime has shifted to digital transactions, and as a result, forensics has had to adapt to investigate any kind of crime that has occurred, any process of data or information related to corporate malfeasance. We must have the capability to investigate. This is where digital forensics comes in, and it is the ability to find evidence in systems to demonstrate that a crime has taken place - sometimes this evidence cannot be manipulated. The integration of corporate forensics into the legal landscape marks a pivotal moment in the fight against corruption. As technology evolves, so too must our methods of investigation and prosecution.
