Is there a requirement for a company to appoint a company secretary in Zimbabwe?

Yes. Every company must have at least one company secretary ordinarily resident in Zimbabwe. The company secretary must be either:

• a natural person who has reached the age of majority and who must ordinarily be resident in Zimbabwe; or
• a firm or corporation of which at least one member or director is ordinarily resident in Zimbabwe and accepts responsibility for the work of the firm or corporation as secretary.
