Is there a requirement for a company to appoint a company secretary in Tanzania?

According to the CA, a company secretary should be appointed. It is the duty of the directors:

• for a public company, take all steps to secure a secretary, or each joint secretary of the company, who is qualified as an advocate, certified public accountant, auditor or holds other qualifications as prescribed by the Minister in the regulations; and
• for a private company, take all reasonable steps to appoint a secretary or joint secretary who has the necessary knowledge and experience to perform the duties of a private company secretary.
