Simone began her career as a Candidate Attorney in 2002 at Weavind and Weavind. Once admitted as an attorney, Simone was employed as a litigation advisor at Outsurance. She commenced employment as an Associate with Adams and Adams in 2005 in the Trade Mark Litigation department. In 2006 Simone was appointed as an Associate at Dyason Attorneys. She joined Savage Jooste and Adams as an Associate in 2007. Simone joined Cliffe Dekker (now Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr) as an Associate in 2008, was promoted to Senior Associate in 2010 and became a Director in 2011.

  • Presented on and advised various local and international clients on their data protection requirements and obligations, including in the context of POPI and GDPR compliance projects and data breach response planning.
  • Presented on and advised various local clients on the Cybercrimes and Cybersecurity Bill.
  • Advised major local media company on various commercial transactions, including licensing arrangements, production agreements, sponsorship agreements, freelancing arrangements and event management.
  • Advised Sasol on its IT outsourcing services requirements.
  • Advised Eskom and Transnet in respect of their combined tender relating to their respective IT outsourcing services arrangements and the disposal of their shareholding in the technology business, Arivia.kom.
  • Intellectual Property litigation including involvement in trade mark, design and copyright infringement matters in addition to matters involving the importation and sale of counterfeit goods.
