Alecia joined Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr as a Candidate Attorney in 2016 and was appointed as an Associate in 2018. Alecia was appointed Senior Associate in 2021.
Assisting with drafting legal opinions and audits on compliance with mining, water, waste, biodiversity and air quality legislation;
Assisting with administrative appeal and review applications under the National Environmental Management Act, No. 107 of 1998 ("NEMA")and the Mineral and Petroleum Resources Development Act, No. 28 of 2002 ("MPRDA")
Reviewing applications for environmental authorisations, including scoping reports, environmental impact assessments and specialist reports
Assisting with numerous applications under NEMA and the MPRDA for environmental authorisations and mineral rights relating to disposals and acquisitions in the mining industry;
Assisting with applications for environmental authorisations, water use licenses and waste management licenses under NEMA, the National Water Act, No. 36 of 1998 and the National Environmental Management: Waste Act, No. 59 of 2008;
Drafting due diligence reports for clients in the mining, security, food safety, forestry, railway, pharmaceutical, game and paper and pulp industries; and
Advising clients on the regulation and implementation of international environmental law principles, biodiversity offsets, greenhouse gas emission reporting and the carbon budget.
