The Companies and Intellectual Property Commission has issued Customer Notice 53 of 2025, signaling renewed attention on accurate completion of the CIPC Compliance Checklist. The Compliance Checklist is an annual set of questions relating to Companies Act compliance that each company must complete (typically alongside its annual return).

The notice highlights instances of misleading or incorrect responses from companies. In our experience, many of the 24 checklist questions can be nuanced, and responses often require cross‑checking against Companies Act requirements, filing histories and company records.

If you would like assistance with interpreting the questions, validating your responses, or aligning supporting comments with the Act, we are able to help you prepare accurate submissions and reduce the risk of remedial action.
