Security Officers’ rate on the rise

Earlier this week, the Department of Labour released a statement that the minimum wage for the Private Security Sector will increase by an average of 6,4% with effect from 1 September 2017 and the new Sectoral Determination will apply until 31 August 2018.

The Department of Labour stated that, “[t]he latest increase in the Private Security Sectoral Determination will be in its third and last year of implementation. The Private Security Sector, on May 2015, signed a three-year minimum wage determination…”

In terms of the statement, the new minimum wage per month for Security Officers in Area 1 will be R5,209 for Grade A, R4,668 for Grade B and R4,102 for Grade C, D and E.
