CDH wins DealMakers' M&A deal flow award for 7th consecutive year

Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr (CDH) Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) team led by Willem Jacobs, National Practice Head, Corporate and Commercial, clinched top honours at the 2015 DealMakers' Awards for M&A deal flow for the seventh year running.

CDH continues to use its strong presence in Africa and South Africa to facilitate transactions and support growth in diverse industries.

The team’s 79 M&A deals in 2015 had a combined value of R178bn. In addition, the firm was ranked first for deal flow and second for deal value in the corporate finance transactions legal adviser tables, having advised on 66 corporate finance deals in 2015 worth R80bn. It achieved fourth place overall in terms of M&A deal value.

The High Court of Kenya, in its decision of 28 November 2023 in Okiya Omtatah Okoiti and 51 Others V The Cabinet Secretary for the National Treasury and Planning and 6 Others , Constitutional Petition No. E181 of 2023 (Consolidated), held that the housing levy as framed in Finance Act, 2023 (Finance Act) was unconstitutional.
