Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr has once again been named South Africa's No. 1 Large Law Firm in the PMR Africa client research report. The firm scored 4.27 out of a possible five, the highest ranking in the category. This is the 5th consecutive year that  Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr has won this award. The firm also recently took top honours in the DealMakers Awards for M&A deal flow and deal value, as well as for deal flow in the corporate finance transaction tables. In addition, the firm recently claimed 1st place by deal count and 4th place by deal value in the Africa and Middle East region of Mergermarket's M&A 2014 Global League Tables.

"Understanding our clients and their businesses' needs remains our principle focus and I believe that this lies at the heart of our winning ways. All of our lawyers and staff come to work each day to, single-mindedly, deliver the best possible service and outcome for our clients and our partner firms across our continent. Our collective effort has not gone unnoticed," says Brent Williams, CEO of Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr.

PMR.africa used a random national sample of 300 respondents comprising in-house corporate legal advisors, MDs, CEOs, financial directors, company secretaries and senior managers were interviewed and had to rate law firms according to a set of attributes such as accessibility of partners, Africa affiliations, attention to detail, commitment to transformation, caring about clients, delivery, competence and thoroughness, value for money and ease of doing business.

In addition, two of the firm's directors, namely Rishaban (Rev) Moodley in the Dispute Resolution practice and Michael Yeates in Employment have been named as winning partners in the 2015 Client Choice International Awards.

The awards survey senior corporate counsel only and focus on the ability to add real value to clients’ business above and beyond other players in the market. Client Choice explains that research begins with a readership survey of International Law Office (ILO) and Lexology in-house counsel subscribers. Clients are asked to rate individual lawyers and law firms on the following client service criteria: quality of legal advice, value for money, commercial awareness, effective communication, billing transparency, tailored fee structures, response time, sharing of expertise and use of technology.
