Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr grieves the tragic loss of Tim Mills, who was fatally injured in a motor vehicle collision this morning.
Millsy, as he was affectionately known throughout the firm, began his career in 1984 as a candidate attorney at Bowman Gilfillan Hayman Godfrey. In 1987 he joined Cliffe Dekker and Todd (now Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr) as a senior associate and became a partner in 1990.
He was an exceptional employment lawyer but it was his incredibly generous spirit and irrepressibly good nature that endeared him most to colleagues, clients and the broader Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr family. There were never dark days for Millsy and he was always there as a friend, a colleague and a shoulder to cry on. He truly epitomised what it means to be a Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr partner.
We are devastated! Our thoughts and prayers are with Tim’s wife Barbara and his children, Nicola and Andrew.
Sam Oosthuizen, our partner in Dispute Resolution, was critically injured in the same collision and remains in intensive care. Our prayers are with Sam’s wife Lynda and his son Paul. We wish Sam the speediest of recoveries.
We are fortunate that Willem Jacobs, our partner in Corporate and Commercial, who was also involved in the collision, sustained no injuries and Roelof Bonnet, also a partner in Corporate and Commercial, sustained only superficial injuries.
