Alex Muchira is a Partner in our Corporate & Commercial practice. He is a legal and regulatory affairs expert with 13+ years of progressive career experience in commercial and corporate law practice. Alex is highly skilled in corporate law, commercial law, regulatory compliance, corporate governance, company secretarial and board operations. He is also well-versed with organisational operations coupled with a passion for demystifying complex concepts and tailoring policies, and is committed to conceptualising, planning and executing strategies while displaying an understanding of systems, regulations and relevant policy

Experience

  • Appointed as a non-executive Director of the Business Registration Services (BRS), which is a semi-autonomous government agency under the state law office, with effect from July 2024. (An overview of your experience)

  • Successfully advised and handled the corporate restructure and subsequent external financing for a leading off-grid hydropower generating company.

  • Handled multiple equity investment by The Baobab Network into various tech start-ups in Kenya.

  • Successfully advised and handled the corporate and debt restructures of four (4) major global Telcos to comply with the National Information Communications and Technology (ICT) Policy of 2020 within a time constrained period of three months.

     

  • Largely involved in the set-up of Employee Share Ownership Plans (ESOPs) and Employee Performance Share Award Plans (EPSAPs) for three (3) major listed Companies. I am currently managing both the ESOP and EPSAP schemes for one of the Companies.

  • Holding Co. Ltd, Vodafone Kenya Limited, Vodacom Business Kenya Ltd, De La Rue, Sanlam Investments East Africa, Citco, Lenovo among others) as Company Secretary and/or Legal Advisor.
