The Ministry of Petroleum and Mining issued a public notice on 14th February 2021, with respect to the following mineral rights:

  1. Prospecting, Mining Licenses/Permits – all holders of the prospecting permits, mining permits, prospecting license, and mining license have 21 days to renew their licenses/ permits and to ensure they are fully compliant with the Act, failure to which they will be revoked or suspended.
  2. Mineral Dealer’s Licenses (MDL) – the Ministry requires all MDL holders to submit their licenses for authentication subject to which compliant holders will be issued with new licenses. Further, all MDL licenses issued between 1st January 2021-14th February 2021 have been recalled and any new applications for MDL for the year 2021 must be submitted on or before 28th February 2021.
  3. Mineral Export Permits – all mineral consignment exporters are required to have a valid mineral export permit before presenting to the Kenya Revenue Authority, their mineral consignment for export.
