A multi-disciplinary CDH team (spanning M&A, competition, finance, and regulatory fields) advised Vodacom in its transformative acquisition of a 30% stake in MAZIV, the holder of Vumatel and Dark Fibre Africa, including the vending into MAZIV of Vodacom's fibre to the home (FTTH) business and certain additional assets (including fibre to the business, metropolitan backhaul fibre, access, core, and transmission assets). This transaction, in an enormously complex regulatory environment, has taken in excess of four years from signature to close and demonstrates the parties and CDH's commitment to overcome obstacles to make a good but incredibly complex deal work.
