Lubabalo Mbolekwa is an Associate in the Dispute Resolution pratice. He has practiced in commercial dispute resolution since his admission as an attorney. Lubabalo specializes in High Court litigation, private mediation, and arbitrations. Lubabalo has successfully resolved disputes concerning insurers in public liability claims, product liability claims, subrogated recovery claims and contractual claims.

Lubabalo is an admitted with the Law Society and received his law degree at Nelson Mandela University, and he served his articles at Clyde & Co Inc.

Lubabalo's experience includes the following:

  • Experience in the rail transportation sector and has acted for insurers, brokerages, underwriters and individuals in professional indemnity claims, D&O claims, construction and engineering claims, product liability claims, subrogated recovery claims, public liability claims and providing coverage advice to major insurers (AIG & Bryte Insurance). 
  • In addition to his experience the rail transportation sector he advices two state owned companies (being Transnet and PRASA respectively) in this sector in relation to a wide range of matters nationally including safety and security related compliance issues, the defence of personal injury claims, large scale rail accidents; commercial disputes and recoveries.
  • Represented clients in matters in the Constitutional Court, Supreme Court of Appeal, Full Benches of the Gauteng High Courts and Western Cape High Court as well as in Arbitration and Mediation proceedings.
  • Experience in advising major international retail group in general commercial issues regarding perfection of securities, retail, and real estate disputes.
  • He has acted for many large international and domestic clients in the construction industry, including international employers, contractors, engineers, architects, and insurers. 
  • His experience includes litigating on the various standard form construction contracts including the JBCC, NEC, FIDIC (various books) and GCC.

  • Lubabalo contributed to an Insuralex article tiltled "Assessing insurance claims in light of intentionally missed premium payments".
