Whilst at university, Byron was selected to participate in the second round of the Integrated Bar Project and completed his internship with Judge Cleaver at the Cape High Court. Byron practised as a Director at another law firm before joining Hofmeyr (now Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr) as a Director in 2007.

Byron has extensive experience in the rail transportation sector and advises the two state owned companies in this sector in relation to a wide range of matters nationally including safety and security related compliance issues, the defence of personal injury claims, large scale rail accidents; commercial disputes and recoveries.

In addition to his experience in the rail transportation sector Byron has acted for clients in relation to engineering insurance disputes, subrogated defences and recoveries, public liability and fraud investigations and recoveries.

Byron has represented clients in matters in the Constitutional Court, Supreme Court of Appeal, Full Benches of the Gauteng High Courts and Western Cape High Court as well as in Arbitration and Mediation proceedings.
