Nomlayo joined Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr as a Candidate Attorney in 2017 and has gained experience in the Dispute Resolution, Employment as well as the Real Estate and Conveyancing practices. Nomlayo was appointed as an Associate in 2019.

Nomlayo is part of a team which specializes in various aspects of commercial litigation and in providing on-going legal advice for some of South Africa's major banking institutions as well as leading petro-chemical companies.

Nomlayo's experience in this field includes:

  • Representing a leading South African bank in numerous recovery actions and foreclosure applications.
  • Representing an international petroleum company in respect of franchise agreements and retail disputes.
  • Representing clients in trust-related litigation.

Real Estate and Conveyancing

  • Conducting due diligence investigations for a leading South African banking institution.
  • Drafting conveyancing documents including mortgage bonds, notarial deeds of lease and deeds of transfer.
  • Drafting commercial property agreements including sale of immovable property agreements, sale of letting enterprise agreements and revival agreements for various property development companies.

Dispute Resolution Associate, Nomlayo Mabhena, was recently named the youngest black female attorney to be admitted as a conveyancer.
