Fatima began her legal career as a Candidate Attorney at Webber Wentzel in Johannesburg. She was admitted as an attorney in 2012 and practiced as an Associate for three years. Fatima joined Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr in 2015 where she was appointed as a Senior Associate. Fatima was promoted to Director in 2019.


  • Fatima specialises and has extensive experience in preparing, reviewing and negotiating a broad range of information technology and sourcing agreements, including infrastructure and outsourcing agreements, software license agreements, implementation agreements, services agreements, development and maintenance agreements, consulting services agreements, and escrow agreements.
  • She has advised clients in various industries and sectors, both local and international, on aspects relating to the establishment of online activities, websites, drafting and reviewing website terms and conditions and privacy policies.She typically also advises clients on general commercial and intellectual property issues across a diverse range of industry sectors, especially financial services.
  • Fatima has advised clients (both local and international) on aspects of privacy law, including providing training and drafting policies on the Protection of Personal Information Act, and completing jurisdictional assessments. She has a special interest in the field of cybercrime and information security and has provided training and reporting on the Cybercrime and Cybersecurity Bill.
