Reza Ahmed is an Associate Designate in our Corporate & Commercial practice. Reza has experience in mergers and acquisitions, private equity, corporate finance and general corporate commercial law. He has also been involved in legal due diligence investigations for both local and international clients in the telecommunications, manufacturing, retail, food and beverage sectors.

Reza joined Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr as a Candidate Attorney in 2018 and was appointed as an Associate Designate in 2020. Before joining the Corporate and Commercial practice, Reza gained experience in our Competition, Employment and Litigation practice areas.

Advised and/or formed part of the legal team that advised −

  • Rand Merchant Bank and other group companies on various preference share funding transactions.
  • RMB Holdings and various of its subsidiaries in relation to the restructuring of inter-company loans.
  • Libstar Operations on the sale of its Elvin business, a supplier of food and beverages in South Africa.
  • Libstar Operations on its acquisition of Healthwise Foods, a manufacturer of beverage products and spices in South Africa.
  • Tiso Blackstar on the sale of its media assets to Lebashe.
  • Liquid Telecommunications on the acquisition of shares in telecommunications companies based in Africa.
  • Astrim Holdings, a group controlled by the Metier Capital Growth Fund II Partnership, on a private equity transaction in the health supplements industry.
  • General:
    • Regularly forms part of teams that conduct legal due diligence investigations from the investigations and analysis to the preparation of final due diligence reports.
    • Regularly assists in all sages of transactional work from drafting of transaction documents to the facilitation of the closing and implementation procedures.
    • Regularly assists with company secretarial work, including the formation of private companies, drafting of resolutions and advising generally on constitutional documents as well as managing trust registration and administration.
