Nick Muller is an Executive Consultant in our Dispute Resolution practice. Nick has over 30 years’ experience in all forms of court litigation and dispute resolution involving all aspects of South African and international law. He specialises in construction and property and sectional title disputes and administration, as well as brand protection and product liability and issues arising from the alienation and expropriation of property. He has also developed expertise in liquor licensing and regulation.

Nick began his career as a senior prosecutor at the South African Department of Justice in 1978. In 1979 Nick joined Syfret Godlonton and Low as a Candidate Attorney. In 1980 he was appointed as an Associate at Syfret Godlonton Fuller Moore, and became a Director of that firm in 1982. In 1998 he joined Cliffe Dekker (now Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr) as a Director.

  • Acted in litigation and arbitrations involving FIDIC, NEC, E5 and JBCC Construction Agreements.
  • Acted for owners and Bodies Corporate in sectional title disputes.
  • Product liability litigation for many SA wine estates, international food, liquor and commodity producers.
  • Specialises in RSA liquor regulation and registration and has advised on and implemented bulk licensing and regulatory regimes for national and global liquor manufacturers, distributors and retailers as well as in the hospitality and viticulture industries.
  • Represents on an ongoing basis local and international publishing houses in regard to copyright infringement, publishing agreement structuring and enforcement, and defamation.
  • Acted in substantial disputes arising from the alienation and expropriation of property and the determination of expropriation compensation.
