She spent four years at the South African Research Chair in Property Law seated at Stellenbosch, under leadership of Prof AJ Van der Walt. As a research assistant at the Chair, she extensively researched a range of property law related fields. During this time, she wrote her LLD dissertation on constitutional property law, focusing on section 25(1) of the Constitution and related administrative law issues. In particular, her dissertation considered the constitutional implications of certain provisions of the National Building Regulations and Building Standards Act 103 of 1977, the Heritage Resources Act 25 of 1999 and the Prevention of Illegal Eviction and Unlawful Occupation of Land Act 19 of 1998 and included comparative research, with emphasis on similar laws in Germany and the United States of America.
Janke joined Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr in 2012 as a candidate attorney. She was appointed as an associate in 2014. She was promoted to senior associate in 2017.
