Janke joined Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr in 2012 as a Candidate Attorney . She was appointed as an Associate in 2014. Janke was appointed Senior Associate in 2017.
Janke spent four years at the South African Research Chair in Property Law seated at Stellenbosch, under leadership of Prof AJ Van der Walt. As a research assistant at the Chair, she extensively researched a range of property law related fields. During this time she wrote her LLD dissertation on constitutional property law and related administrative law issues. In particular, her dissertation considered the constitutional implications of the demolition of unlawful and illegal buildings (as required by the National Building Regulations and Building Standards Act 103 of 1977) and the statutory regulation of the owner’s right to demolish unlawfully occupied buildings historic buildings (in terms of the Prevention of Illegal Eviction and Unlawful Occupation of Land Act 19 of 1998 and the National Heritage Resources Act 25 of 1999 respectively).
