Fred Kolbe


Fred Kolbe is a Consultant in our Real Estate practice. With more than 20 years of conveyancing experience, he has attended to numerous large conveyancing matters and has run various conveyancing departments dealing with large volumes of registrations. Fred's areas of expertise are conveyancing and managing registration of high-volume property related transactions with particular emphasis on residential property.

Fred began his career as a Judges Clerk in 1977. In 1980 he was appointed as a Candidate Attorney at Solomon Nicolson. He moved to Hofmeyr Van Der Merwe as an Associate in 1982 and in 1985 he moved to Botha Moll and Partners. In 1988 he joined Cliffe Dekker (now Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr) as an Associate. He moved to Kemp Evenhuis as a partner in 1991. In 1995, Fred rejoined Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr as a Director and became a Consultant in November 2011.

  • Attended to the cession of the Post Office Staff Bonds to First National Bank.
  • Advised Alusaf Behuisingsmaatskappy on the winding down of the company's housing scheme and attended to the conveyancing relating thereto.
  • Advised client on the acquisition of the low-cost housing properties held by Saambou.
  • Registered the first bond in South Africa over a mining right in terms of the Mineral and Petroleum Recourses Development Act, No 28 of 2002.
