Daniel began his legal career as a legal assistant at the Capital Markets Authority's investigation and enforcement department in 2019. He later joined Kieti Law LLP as a Trainee Advocate in 2021 and was appointed as an Associate in 2022.

Banking and Finance 

• Advising one of the largest banks in South Africa with respect to its USD 15,800,000 term loan facility to a property development company in Kenya.
• Acting for a leading East African leasing company with respect to its proposed issuance of a secured corporate bond listed on the Unquoted Securities Platform of the Nairobi Securities Exchange.
• Acting for various lenders generally in relation to the perfection of securities as relates to financing of working capital, asset financing, property acquisitions, collateral management and the subordination of shareholders and/or directors loans.
  

Employment

• Representing Stitch Money, a leading South Africa-based fintech company on-boarding of independent contractors in Kenya and Nigeria.
• Carrying out an employment due diligence over a Kenya arm of a multinational construction company by reviewing of employment contract and job advertisements for its employees.
• Assisted in advising Akili Partners Limited, AgDevCo Kenya Limited, SunFunder East Africa Limited, Mota – Engil Engenharia E Construção Africa S.A. on employment matters including developing employee employment contracts and developing organisation human resource policies.

Data protection 

• Assisted in advising a leading digital lender in registering with the Office of Data Protection Commissioner as a Data Controller.
• Assisted in advising various international companies on data protection matters and in particular data breach notifications to the Office of Data Protection Commissioner.

Intellectual Property Rights 

• Advising a Kenyan betting, gaming and lotteries operator with respect to intellectual property matters including filing, prosecution and renewals of trademarks registrations both in Kenya and other jurisdictions.
• General Intellectual property matters including filing, prosecution and renewals of trade marks, industrial designs and patents and maintenance of all aspects of any resulting registrations in Kenya and other jurisdictions.
  

Corporate and Commercial

• Acting for Shara Inc, a leading US-based developer of community-driven finance software solutions on independent contractor contracts for their Kenyan operations.
• Assisted in reviewing a power purchase agreement for a leading producer of consumer goods in Kenya.
• Advising a Kenyan fintech company on its obligations under the Data Protection Act and the policies, agreements and clauses required for compliance with the Data Protection Act.

• Immigration matters including work permit, special pass, foreign national certificate, dependent pass, residence, work permit appeals and visa applications in Kenya.
• Company incorporation matters including formation and liquidation of business and non-business vehicles, such as private and public companies, non-governmental organizations, partnerships, and societies.
