Attie joined Hofmeyr (now Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr) as a Director in 1984.
Major clients include AECI, Sanlam Capital Markets, Komatsu, Massmart, Pioneer Foods, Circlevest, Industrial Development Corporation of South Africa (IDC), Sanlam Properties, Mia Group of Companies, Sasol Group of Companies, Pareto, Sun International, , Absa Devco, Stay at Southpoint Properties, , Liberty Group Properties, , Afhco (Affordable Housing Company), Vukile Property Fund, Century Property Developments, , Old Mutual Life Assurance Company (SA), all major South African banks.
Together with Werner van Rhyn of Werner Rhyn Property Management Development, advised the Mia Group of Companies in the development of Waterfall City. This development, at a worth of R11 billion, is ranked as the largest property development in South African history (Financial Mail, 3 February 2006).
Chambers Global 2017 ranked Attie in Band 1 for real estate.
Legal 500 EMEA 2017 listed Attie as a 'leading individual' for real estate and recommended him in 2015–2016.
Best Lawyers International 2008–2017 listed him as the Johannesburg Real Estate Law Lawyer of the Year and listed him for real estate law from 2014–2016.
