Allison Alexander
Allison Alexander is the Practice Head of our Trusts & Estates practice. She has practiced as an attorney and conveyancer since 1990. She is experienced in the drafting of wills, estate planning, administration of deceased estates as well as the registration of trusts, special trusts and the administration of trusts both created in terms of a will and in terms of a deed of trust as well as a Trustee and Administrator of a large number of Trusts. Allison's area of specialisation in regards to real estate, includes the registration of residential and commercial bonds for financial institutions mainly in the Private Wealth sector for banks such as Investec, Nedbank and Standard Bank, as well as residential and commercial transfers, transfers from insolvent and deceased estates, drafting and commenting on commercial property documents and advising thereon.
Allison has served as a Councillor for the Cape Law Society and member of the Disciplinary Committee as well as an Examiner for the Conveyancing exams.

Allison has also worked on various renewable energy matters and commercial property documents for petroleum companies. In regards to wills and trusts, Allison did her articles in the Wills and Trust department at Gelb Gelb Simon and Shapiro from 1988 to 1990 where she was admitted. She continued to practise in this department under the guidance of the late Basil Shapiro, a member of the Wills and Trust examination panel at the Law Society of the Western Cape and a senior partner in the firm. She headed up the Wills and Trusts department as well as the Property department at Gelb Gelb Simon and Shapiro and their successors in title, until September 2005 when she took a position to head up the Property department at Edward Nathan Sonnenbergs.
Allison has also served as an examiner for the conveyancer's admission exam and as Councillor at the Cape Law Society, the latter from 2000-2006. As well as a member of the Disciplinary Committee, the Benevolent Fund Committee and the Staff Committee.
Allison was admitted as an attorney and conveyancer in 1990 and employed at Gelb Simon Shapiro and Partners Attorneys. Thereafter she was head hunted and proceeded to head up the Real Estate practice at Edward Nathan Sonnenberg in 2005. Allison started with Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr as Director in 2014 and as a Consultant with effect from 1 April 2017.
In April 2019, Allison became National Practice Head for the Trusts and Estates practice.
