Batool joined Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr as a Candidate Attorney in January 2015.  She was appointed as an Associate in 2017 and promoted to Senior Associate in 2020.

  • Advising on company law, general corporate and commercial matters and drafting of general commercial agreements and company constitutional documents.

Notable M&A and other Transactional Work

  • Member of team advising on BEE-related matters and the establishment of a new Vodacom employee share scheme in relation to Vodacom Group Limited's 2018 US$1.2 billion BEE deal, in terms of which the current shareholders in Vodacom's 2008 BEE deal reinvested their current equity in Vodacom Proprietary Limited into Vodacom Group Limited for a further 10-year BEE deal.
  • Member of team advising Libstar regarding a BEE transaction in terms of which, an employee share scheme has been created for the benefit of a majority of Libstar's black employees at specific job levels and a scheme has been created for the benefit of black-owned businesses within Libstar's value chain. The BEE shareholders acquired a 13% stake in Libstar.
  • Member of team advising PAPE Fund III, a black-owned private equity fund, on an acquisition of shares in Singular Systems.
  • Member of team advising ADvTECH Limited on its acquisition of a 51% stake in the University of Africa in Zambia.
  • Member of team that conducted a due diligence investigation into the business and affairs of Neotel for Liquid Telecommunications regarding its acquisition of Neotel with an estimated value of R6.55 billion.
  • Member of team advising Columbus McKinnon, a US multinational, on the implementation of a BEE ownership structure.
