Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr boosts Technology, Media and Telecommunications practice

 Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr has appointed Kathleen Rice as a director in its Technology, Media and Telecommunications (TMT) practice.

Kathleen has some 10 years experience in the telecommunications, media and broadcasting regulatory environment. Kathleen joins from Werksmans, where she was a partner for three years in the Media Communications department.

For the last three years Kathleen has lectured and coordinated the LLB Telecommunications Law course at the University of the Witwatersrand. She has been acknowledged as a leading telecoms and media lawyer in the Practical Law Company (PLC) Which Lawyer series of handbooks over the past four years, including in the 2009/10 edition.

Her areas of expertise include electronic communications, broadcasting, information technology and data protection. She has extensive experience in advising South Africa's leading media and broadcasting sector companies on issues such as their regulatory requirements and licence terms and conditions, and large multinational companies on data privacy laws and electronic communications-related agreements.

Kathleen's versatile experience and reputation will significantly boost Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr's client offering in the many faceted areas of TMT law.
