Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr publishes a Summary of the Consumer Protection Bill

The landmark Consumer Protection Bill lays the foundation for an era of consumers in South Africa by introducing a single, comprehensive legal framework for consumer protection. The Bill clearly spells out the entitlements of consumers and the responsibilities of suppliers of goods or services. It is far-reaching and the first legislation of its kind in South Africa. The Bill is expected to be promulgated later this year or early in 2009.
