Law firm Cliffe Dekker has recruited leading South African environmental law practitioner Terry Winstanley to establish an Environmental practice within the firm. Ms. Winstanley joined the firm from Winstanley & Cullinan, which she originally founded in 1997.
Recognised as the leading environmental lawyer in South Africa for the past four years by the UK-based Practical Law Company, who have named her “the doyenne of environmental law in South Africa”, Ms. Winstanley is the chairperson of the Environmental Law Committee of the Associated Law Societies of South Africa; immediate past president of the Environmental Law Association and a contributing editor for the South African Journal of Environmental Law and Policy.

Ms. Winstanley has a Masters degree and more than 15 years’ experience in environmental law and policy. She specialises in various aspects of environmental law and policy, including environmental impact assessment, manufacturing, mining and water law.
