Cliffe Dekker rated SA's best large law firm and winner of the PMR Diamond Arrow Award

Johannesburg, South Africa, February 27, 2004 - Cliffe Dekker has been ranked as the best large law firm in South Africa in an independent survey of major corporate users of legal services, and has won the PMR Diamond Arrow Award for 2004.

The results of the PMR.Intelligence survey were compiled from 478 ratings of legal firms sourced from 240 respondents who included MDs, financial directors and other senior personnel drawn from 800 major corporate clients of legal firms based in SA's main business regions. Firms were rated on 17 attributes and 42 pre-defined legal services together with verbatim comments of the firms' strengths and weaknesses.

Cliffe Dekker was comfortably ranked top law firm in the country, both in the large firm category - winning 12 out of 17 attributes - and achieving the highest overall score of any firm in the survey

Commenting on this achievement, Cliffe Dekker chairman, Chris Ewing said, "Although most SA law firms offer similar ranges of legal services, we have always thought that it is the quality of the service we render and our strong client relationships that differentiate us. This award clearly indicates a high level of client satisfaction."

Ewing said that the firm had grown remarkably over recent years. "In the past two years in particular, there has been a renewed focus on nurturing client relationships and expanding our capabilities to deliver the range of expert advice that truly matters to them. This survey strongly indicates that we are on the right track," he said.
