Susan Meyer is a senior associate in our Competition practice. Susan has specialised experience in advising clients on all issues of competition law including prohibited practice litigation, general compliance, exemption applications and merger notifications.

Career

Susan began her career as a candidate attorney with Hofmeyr Herbstein and Gihwala (now Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr) in 2006. She was appointed as an associate in 2008 and promoted to senior associate in January 2011.

Experience

  • Preparing merger notifications, obtaining merger clearance and opposing mergers for a variety of clients across a broad spectrum of industries, for example, PSG, Pioneer Foods, the Old Mutual group of companies, Steinhoff, Community Property Company, Grand Parade Investments, Capital Property Fund, Leaf Property Fund, Mergence Africa (a subsidiary of Dipula Income Fund) and PBT Group.
  • Advising on competition law compliance, presenting compliance programmes and drafting of compliance guidelines for clients such as Mediclinic, Pioneer Foods, Shoprite Checkers, Ceres Fruit Juices, Clicks Group and Link pharmacies, Parmalat, Radiological Society of South Africa, Sanlam and the Steinhoff group.
  • Part of the team representing Shoprite Checkers in the Competition Commission’s investigation into the South African retail market.
  • Part of the team advising a large hospital group in respect of various regulatory changes in the healthcare market.
  • Part of the team representing Computicket in on-going litigation at the Tribunal.
